ADHD Assessment Bristol
Our ADHD assessments in Bristol are offered in conjunction with autism assessments where requested.
Information Gathering
A series of questionnaire will need to be completed which will ask about your/ your child’s attention levels, listening, organisation, concentration, distractibility, energy levels, movement, mental activity levels, volume, impulsivity and ability to take turns. Information will also be requested from school staff where applicable.
Diagnostic Interview for ADHD
A formal interview via online meeting will take place to gather more extensive information about a child, young person or adult’s background, current symptoms, strengths and challenges covering the 18 core symptoms of ADHD. This appointment can last up to 2-3 hours. This is completed with parents/ carers without the child or young person or the adult themselves if they are above 18.
Observation Assessment At Bristol Clinic
This takes place during the autism assessment.
Diagnostic Meeting
Following these assessments, information gathered is reviewed alongside the diagnostic criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Diagnostic Statistical Manual V, DSM V) to determine whether the person’s needs meet the criteria for a diagnosis.
Please note that a diagnosis of ADHD is not guaranteed.
Feedback Meeting
Once the outcome of the assessment has been decided this will be shared with you and a feedback meeting arranged to review the findings of the assessment and to address any unanswered questions. A report is shared containing a description of the information received, the diagnostic outcome and recommendations for support.
Medication
Spectrum Assessments is partnered with a team that provide a medication service for clients 11 years old and up where this is required. The appointments incur additional fees.
